Adoption commitment

Adopting a cat is a serious, long-term responsibility. The cat you adopt will likely be part of your family for the next 10–20 years and may require a meaningful commitment of your time, attention, and resources.

You should be prepared to provide daily care, including feeding, litter box maintenance, enrichment, and social interaction. Regular veterinary care is essential, and some cats may require special diets, medications, or ongoing grooming. Expenses such as veterinary visits, pet sitting, and boarding can add up and should be considered as part of your long-term commitment.

To help ensure a safe and appropriate placement, some rescues — including Whisker Foundation — may require photos of the environment where the cat will be living as part of the application process.
