About Whisker Foundation

Our Mission

To rescue and protect vulnerable cats while educating and supporting the people who care for them—ensuring every cat has the opportunity to live a safe, healthy life in a loving home.

Why Whisker Foundation Was Founded

Whisker Foundation was created out of love, loss, and a deep desire to do better for cats and the people who care for them.

Our journey began with Mittens, our beloved tuxedo cat, whose passing at just nine years old changed us forever. As we navigated her illness and end-of-life care, we experienced how overwhelming it can be to make critical decisions without clear, trustworthy guidance. That experience revealed a gap in support and education for pet parents when they need it most.

Mittens taught us how deeply animals depend on us to advocate for them, protect them, and provide comfort in their most vulnerable moments. While Whisker Foundation did not exist when we said goodbye to her, the lessons she gave us became the foundation for our mission.

Today, Whisker Foundation honors her legacy by rescuing kittens, nursing mothers, and pregnant cats while providing education that helps prevent suffering and unnecessary surrender. We believe rescue and education go hand in hand—when people are informed and supported, cats are more likely to live safe, healthy lives in loving homes.

Every cat we help carries Mittens’ legacy forward and reminds us why this work matters.

Our Vision

A future where no cat suffers due to neglect, lack of resources, or misinformation, and where every pet parent feels confident and supported.

Leadership

Debbie Adams & Stephen Deac — Co-Founders

Together, Debbie and Stephen founded Whisker Foundation with the shared belief that every cat—regardless of age, background, or circumstance—deserves compassion, safety, and a loving home. Based in Everett, Washington, they bring complementary strengths to the organization’s leadership. Debbie leads the Foundation’s mission, community partnerships, and daily operations, and serves as the primary caregiver responsible for hands-on care, including fostering, medical support, bottle-feeding, and socialization. Stephen supports the organization through financial stewardship, community partnerships, and organizational sustainability, and is also actively involved in the daily care of the cats, contributing to their well-being and the organization’s smooth operation. All donations are managed responsibly and transparently to directly benefit the cats in their care.

Their partnership is rooted in hands-on rescue work, strategic growth, and an unwavering dedication to creating a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk cats across the Puget Sound region. Together, they champion not just rescue and rehabilitation, but education, community outreach, and lifelong opportunities for every feline you support.
